Rhona Atugonza is an innovator dedicated to addressing pollution from discarded car tyres and environmental damage from sand mining. She is developing a solution that recycles tyres into eco-friendly construction blocks. By focusing on this work, she aims to reduce pollution, create jobs, lower construction costs, and promote sustainable building practices in Uganda. This work is deeply personal to her because she grew up near her father’s garage and saw tyre pollution firsthand, as well as tragic consequences of tyre burning during riots. With determination and vision, Rhona is paving the way for sustainable solutions that make a real difference.
