Solafam Uganda Ltd provides an integrated climate smart farming system combining solar-powered irrigation, AI-supported agronomy through LYN, and solar-powered cold storage — serving smallholder fruits and vegetable farmers in Uganda who depend on rainfall or costly diesel irrigation.

Agriculture consumes about 70% of global freshwater yet many farmers irrigate without reliable data on crop water needs. Growing up in a tomato-growing family, Shifra faced low yields and post-harvest losses season after season. Deployed 52 solar irrigation systems and 2 cold rooms for 629 farmers, avoiding 32.4 tonnes of CO₂ from diesel. Targeting avoidance of 22 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions from diesel irrigation by June 2027. Operational Setup ● Agricultural Output: Managed raw vegetable and tomato cultivation processes to completely eliminate post-harvest waste across partner smallholder clusters. ● Cold-Chain Proof: Successfully designed and validated a localized crop storage and preservation model, moving her project past the initial pre-revenue planning phase into structured commercial farm supply networks.
