Asiimwe Tracy Joy is an innovator dedicated to addressing the growing challenge of electronic waste in Uganda, fueled by imports of short-lived electronics. She is developing a project to refurbish used electronics, extend their lifespan, and repurpose scrap into art and furniture. By focusing on this work, she aims to create jobs for youth as repair technicians and entrepreneurs, reduce environmental harm, and make electronics more affordable. This mission is deeply personal to her, as she has long been passionate about physics and its environmental impact, and is committed to applying her skills to create meaningful change. With determination and vision, Asiimwe is paving the way for sustainable solutions that make a real difference.
