Sustainability Zone

Joshua Kim is a visionary innovator from South Korea dedicated to addressing the increasing flooding damages in Seoul. Recognising the low permeability of road pavement as a key factor in the city's vulnerability to flooding, Joshua embarked on a groundbreaking project to develop high permeability road pavement using coffee wastes. By repurposing coffee wastes, Joshua aims to not only prevent flooding damages but also reduce carbon emissions in a sustainable manner.

With a deep understanding of the urgent climate crisis and a personal connection to the devastating impact of flooding, Joshua's project represents a crucial step towards creating a more resilient and environmentally friendly urban infrastructure. By focusing on improving water management in advanced cities through innovative road pavement solutions, Joshua's work has the potential to revolutionise urban sustainability practices. Joshua's commitment to leveraging coffee wastes for a greater societal good showcases a unique blend of environmental consciousness and innovative thinking.
