Mohamad Nurhan Bin Raihan is an innovator dedicated to addressing the intensifying urban heat island effects in Southeast Asia, which raise city temperatures by up to 5°C. He is developing a solution through Cool Cities, which provides step-by-step guides for communities to plant trees, use light-colored roofs, create shade structures, and build pocket parks. By focusing on this work, he aims to lower electricity bills, improve public health, and enhance comfort, with scalable solutions for hot urban areas worldwide. This work is deeply personal to him because he once avoided returning to Asia due to unbearable heat and believes no one should feel displaced by their own climate. With determination and vision, Mohamad is paving the way for sustainable solutions that make a real difference.
