Education and Behavioral Change

Sarah Maria Mayrhofer, from Austria, is a visionary activist dedicated to spreading climate and sustainability education, with a particular focus on children. She was nominated for the "Movers of Tomorrow" Award. She initiated the project "Die Klimaheldin", funded by a Solidarity Project Grant from the European Solidarity Corps. As part of this project, she co-authored and published the comic-style book "Greta und das Plastikmonster" to teach children about sustainability in an entertaining way. The book tells the story of Greta, a courageous girl living in a peaceful coastal village. When the village faces environmental problems due to a growing plastic monster in the ocean, Greta takes action. She trains, learns about recycling, and gathers the villagers to fight the monster and adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. Sarah Maria Mayrhofer also offers workshops for children in schools, using interactive and non-formal methods to engage them in climate protection.
