James Achola

James Achola is an innovator dedicated to addressing fast fashion and textile waste in Africa, where millions of garments are discarded each year. He is developing a solution that upcycles second-hand denim jackets into Afrocentric statement pieces by combining traditional African fabrics and handcraft techniques. By focusing on this work, he aims to provide income for young creatives, tailors, and artisans while promoting sustainable consumption and cultural pride. This work is deeply personal to him because he has witnessed the environmental and cultural impacts of fast fashion and believes clothing can tell powerful stories of sustainability and identity. With determination and vision, James is paving the way for sustainable solutions that make a real difference.
