Shahid Shaikh

Shahid Shaikh, a passionate advocate for public health and environmental sustainability, hails from India and resides in the community of Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin. Witnessing the alarming prevalence of waterborne diseases like stomach tuberculosis, jaundice, and typhoid among his fellow residents, especially the vulnerable children, Shahid is determined to make a difference. Through innovative theatre-based awareness campaigns, Shahid plans to raise consciousness about the pressing issue and rejuvenate a historic 700-year-old stepwell in the neighborhood. By engaging local youth in acting roles, Shahid aims to empower them to take proactive steps in safeguarding their environment. With a vision of local initiatives addressing global challenges, Shahid believes that inspiring the community and authorities to take action can be a significant stride towards mitigating the impending water crisis exacerbated by climate change.
