Okeny Mark

Okeny Mark, a passionate environmental activist from Uganda, is dedicated to combating plastic waste pollution in his community. With a focus on Kitgum town and other parts of the country, Okeny has witnessed the detrimental effects of reckless plastic disposal on the environment. Determined to make a difference, he has initiated a project aimed at collecting plastic waste and transforming it into useful materials such as toys, plastic pavers, and tiles.

By implementing recycling practices, Okeny's project not only addresses the high rate of plastic disposal but also tackles the associated environmental hazards. Concerned about the impact on soil fertility, food production, aquatic life, and overall hygiene, Okeny is driven to create a sustainable solution that benefits his community. Through his efforts, farming is expected to thrive with improved soil fertility, water bodies will become cleaner for domestic use, and aquatic life will be protected.

Furthermore, by selling the recycled plastic waste, the project aims to enhance the community's financial stability while promoting environmental cleanliness. Okeny envisions a future where affordable products from the project are readily available, contributing to a cleaner and healthier society.
