Nabukenya Dorah

Nabukenya Dorah is a dedicated advocate from Uganda committed to addressing the pressing issue of high rates of absenteeism in schools within Kayunga district. With a staggering 75% absenteeism rate attributed to climate change impacts such as deforestation, wetland encroachment, poor farming practices, and improper solid waste disposal, Dorah recognizes the urgent need for intervention.

Through the establishment of Green Life school clubs, Dorah is spearheading a transformative initiative aimed at mobilizing students to participate in educational and awareness programs, community engagement activities, health interventions, and collaboration with local leaders. By promoting sustainable land management practices and environmental education, Dorah envisions a future where students can thrive in a healthier environment, leading to improved attendance rates, academic performance, and overall community resilience in the face of climate change challenges. Dorah's work is not only shaping a more educated and empowered community but also fostering environmental consciousness and adaptability for future generations.
