Fátima D. Gigante is a passionate advocate for gender equality in conservation, originally from Spain. Despite global progress, women remain underrepresented in the conservation space, often facing barriers to leadership roles and limited access to resources. Fátima recognizes the vital role women play in achieving stronger environmental outcomes and is committed to building a supportive community for women in the sector. Her initiative, “Red Española de Mujeres en la Naturaleza”, empowers women by providing the resources, networks, and opportunities they need to build successful and fulfilling careers that align with their values and personal circumstances. As a young woman navigating a male-dominated field, Fátima is personally familiar with the challenges of working without adequate support. Through her project, she aims to uplift and inspire other women, fostering a more inclusive and diverse conservation movement. By amplifying women’s voices, Fátima envisions a future where both people and the planet can thrive together.
