Berlin, 19 January 2023. To address the global challenges and build a more sustainable future, the world needs new concepts and movements. That is why The DO School Fellowships gGmbH supports and empowers young innovators of tomorrow and connects them with the experts of today.

The DO School Fellowships gGmbH is proud to announce the launch of beVisioneers, a global fellowship program like no other. Designed and implemented by The DO School Fellowships and fully funded by a donation from Mercedes-Benz, beVisioneers provides young innovators from around the world with the training, mentoring, expert support and resources to bring their planet-positive project or idea to life.

The call for applications to beVisioneers: The Mercedes-Benz Fellowship is open through March 5, 2023. In June, 100 fellows from nine countries, including India, South Africa and Germany, will begin an intensive 12-month hybrid-learning program that culminates in the launch of their projects. The program will ramp up to empower thousands of ecopreneurs globally over the coming years.

“beVisioneers is a very ambitious and comprehensive scholarship program for environmental action”,  says Katherin Kirschenmann, Founder and Managing Director of The DO School, a life-long learning center based in Hamburg and Berlin. “To design it, we drew on more than 10 years of experience training over 10,000 young people from 100 countries as part of projects for H&M, the UN, the City of New York and others. We deeply appreciate the long-term commitment of Mercedes-Benz to beVisioneers, which aims to make a positive and lasting impact on the environment by empowering promising young innovators from around the world, irrespective of background.”

beVisioneers fellows are selected for their vision, their motivation and the viability of their sustainability project or idea. During the initial 12-month program, fellows receive weekly online lessons to develop their leadership, entrepreneurial and sustainability skills. They also receive 1-to-1 project mentoring and guidance from world-class experts in their fields. In addition to local meet-ups, fellows have an opportunity to attend regional summits and global gatherings with recognized leaders in environmental action.

beVisioneers is a fellowship with financial stipends available for those in need and merit-based access to project funding. After completing the 12-month program and launching their project, fellows continue to receive training to help them become ambassadors for environmental change in their respective regions.

For 2023, the first year of the fellowship, applications from residents of Denmark, Germany, Hungary, India, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden or the United Kingdom; applicants must have a project in, or a project idea intended for, at least one of these countries. In 2024, beVisioneers will expand to more regions, with the goal of rolling out globally by 2025.

The long-term goal of beVisioneers: The Mercedes-Benz Fellowship is to build an inclusive and impactful global community of fellows, mentors and experts, working together at eye level to confront pressing environmental challenges of our time.
