Sustainability Zone
Sustainable Food Systems; Food Security; & Healthy Nutrition

Alice Warkentin, a passionate advocate for reducing food waste and supporting those in need, hails from Germany. Witnessing the heartbreaking reality of perfectly good meals being discarded daily in canteens due to various reasons, such as being unsold or reheated for too long, inspired her to take action. With her innovative initiative, Food Be Good, Alice aims to build a connection between food rescuers and establishments where surplus hot meals go to waste. By facilitating the responsible distribution of leftovers, she envisions a world where no one goes hungry while perfectly good food is thrown away. Drawing from personal experiences of struggling to access hot meals during challenging times, Alice is determined to make a difference. Currently focusing on a pilot project at her university, she harbors ambitions of expanding her impact across Germany, Europe, and eventually worldwide. Join Alice on her mission to create a more sustainable and compassionate food system for all. 🌎💚
